Network Marketing--A to Z is an encyclopedia of fun facts, figures and tips for success in this amazing industry.

Let's continue on with the next 3 letters in the alphabet, each of which holds a key essential to network marketing success.

D is for Discipline. Far too often people have negative connotations for the word Discipline. They need to change their thinking if they are to appreciate and to reap the benefits of this essential success ingredient. Discipline is not a “punishment” rather it is committing to a course of action and continuing despite obstacles, challenges--even when you “don't feel like it.”

America's leading business philosopher Jim Rohn explained the importance of Discipline this way. “It is the bridge between goals and accomplishments. We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of Discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is Discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.”

Look at it this way: Discipline + Correct Activities = Reward.

E is for Expect. This single word is most often cited as the reason for a person's success. Because people Expect success for themselves and others, they achieve it. Motivational speaker Zig Ziglar says: “You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and Expect to Win.” Zig Ziglar Quite honestly, whatever you Expect, will come about in your life.

American financier, bank and art collector John Pierpont Morgan believed this philosophy and his life as a perfect example of this belief. He summed it up in a few words: “When you Expect things to happen -- strangely enough -- they do happen.”

Expect success, act accordingly and achieve success.

F is for Fail. Many people Fail before they even begin. Having been involved in this industry for almost two decades, I know that when you look at the reasons people Fail, it is always for one of only four reasons. If you know the reasons upfront or in time to make a course correction, you will not Fail, you will be a success story. Here are the four reasons:
1. They choose the wrong company. Let's face it, if the ship's going down, you're going down with it.

2. They aren't coachable or they don't have access to a coach. With the internet, I believe everyone has access to a coach. People, however, are often not coachable as they don't understand that network marketing is a business model with its own set of skill sets that need to be developed. If a person does not learn, they will Fail.

3. They are inconsistent or don't treat it like a business. Look at it this way, if a person opened a restaurant, they would have set hours for the business and follow their business plan. If they did not, they would Fail. Network marketing is a business. The same rule applies: treat it like a business or Fail.

4. They quit. No activity = no results = Failure.
Do you agree that you need to Expect success and Discipline yourself?

  1. Janet, I'm always amazed by the network marketers and bloggers who do not treat their online activities as a business. To be successful, you need a strategy, you need to execute it, measure your results and adjust accordingly.

I'm enjoying your series. Nice job.

  2. Thx so much, Sherryl. Knowing the professional you are, I appreciate your comments. Too often people who work for themselves, be they network marketers or bloggers, do not see what they do as "serious business." As we both know, if they don't treat it like a business, it will never pay them as a business. Mahalo for stopping by and commenting.
